Description
United Kingdom Felting Needlesare made from alloyed-steel you will have no problems with breakages.
Felting needles come in many different varieties. They come in different lengths, shaft shapes, number of barbs, type of bard and shape of point.
How do felting needles work?
Each needle has a number of barbs that catch the fiber as it is pushed through the project. This causes the fibers to become entangled to make a solid felt. The greater the number of barbs, the faster the project will felt.

What is Gauge?
The term “Gauge” simply refers to the thickness of the barb. There are many tables on the web that will let you convert from gauge to millimeters or inched but for the craft felter, its really not important. Gauge is a simple whole number that’s easy to remember. The confusing part about gauge is the larger the gauge, the smaller the shaft size. I.e. a 32-gauge needle will have a larger shaft diameter larger than that of a 42-gauge needle. Also, keep in mind that the larger the shaft size, the larger to whole left in your project. For quick felting, 32 gauge 9 point needles will felt quicker than 40 gauge 3 barb needles. The 40 gauge 3 barb needles will, however, leave a smoother service.
Triangular Needles - Barbs on 3 sides - 5 needle set
32G - The coarse needle is the thickest needle in the package. It felt faster and do not break easily, but tend to leave visible holes on the surface. They are generally used in the initial shaping stage for coarse fibers and attaching pieces.
36G - The medium/thick needle service similar function as a 32G needle, but leaves smaller holes on the surface. Good for initial shaping stage for medium fiber, and also can be used for attaching pieces.
38G - The medium/fine needle is the most commonly used all-rounder needle. It is great for further shaping and tightening work.
40G - The fine needle is best for felting fine details. It can be used for finishing “skin” - refining small holes on the surface to make it smooth and neat.
43G - The ultra-fine needle is great for extra details. It leaves very small holes, and great for rooting doll hair or whisker or adding any extra details.
Reverse Triangle Needles. The barbs pointed the opposite way - 5 needle set
It pulls the fiber outward instead of pushing and felting fiber inwards. These are typically used for making a furry (as apposed to smooth)surface for 3D forms such as cats and dogs.
Spiral Triangle Needle - Barbs twist around the needle - 5 needle set
The unique twist around the needle allows wool felted above and below the surface. It helps felt quicker and tightens the wool by extra twisting, and leaves a smaller hole on the surface.
Star Needles - Barbs on 4 sides - 5 needle set
Unlike triangular needle only has barbs on 3 sides, the star needles have barbs on 4 sides. The extra side gives extra aggressive at pushing fibers, and help felting faster.
Spiral Star Needle - 5 needle set
Combine all the benefits of Star and Spiral needles. It has barbs on 4 sides and tighten wool by extra twisting for extra faster felting.
Crown Needles - 5 needle set
A triangular blade needle, mostly used for inserting fibers into vinyl dolls heads, good needle for use on reborn dolls eyebrows, eyelashes and hair, add detailed fur to a project or any other very fine work, as they can only grab a few fibers at a time.
Crown needles do not have barbs the length of their spine. Instead they have a single row towards the tip, in a "crown" formation.
Rooting (Forked) Needles - 1 needle in listing
Rooting (Fork) needle is a three-dimensional needle with a rounded fork tip. It's designed especially for the production of very fine fibers such as human hair and mohair.
