Description

Very old and hard to find Joe Carioco. Painted ceramic figurine. Long story to Joe. Walt Disney and company were funded to create a film before the U.S. entered WWII under this country's "Good Neighbor policy". The idea was to make friends with countries that were fond of the Nazi movement. Disney went to Brazil and an artist showed him drawings of a dapper cigar smoking parrot--Joe Carioca.
He is a good friend of Donald Duck and first appeared in Disney's Brazilian film "Saludos Amigos". He later appeared in Disney's, "the Three Caballeros" in America.
Officials in Washington said Joe did more to create a bond between Brazil and the U.S. than any other effort.
Fast forward to today where Joe (like Dr. Seuss) has fallen on hard times because he is a Latino parrot.
Come on! What are we becoming as a country? Sorry for the politics. I just could not remain silent in the face of ridiculousness.
Anyway, Joe is in good condition. Not signed, as he, like his film, debuted in Brazil--not America. He has some paint loss on the button of his jacket, and a scuff on the tip of his toe. Otherwise no chip, cracks or crazing.
