Walt and Roy Disney’s original marketing decision to manufacture and sell Disney character merchandise started with the Mickey and Minnie Mouse Charlotte Clark Dolls.   The success of the marketing strategy to "Produce The Doll” was an immediate financial bonanza for the Studios.  With the release of Disney’s Feature Film, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs in 1937, Walt and Roy licensed the Knickerbocker Toy Company to do a series of beautiful stuffed cloth Dwarfs Dolls that featured "true to character" composition faces and hands.  The painting of the faces of each Dwarf was done with care and endearing expressions.  The Dwarfs clothes and hats were made of plush velveteen.  The Dwarfs were completed with hats, shoes and a life-like beard.
We have had this magnificent set of Knickerbocker Dwarfs for over 30 years, yet we never displayed them.  They were passed down to us by a relative who received them in the late 1930’s.  We always wanted to build the “Perfect Display Case” that warranted this wonderful Disney Set.  That wishful project never came to pass and therefore they have been in storage within a Hope Chest for a long, long time and remain in excellent condition.
It would be difficult to find another complete of set of 1938 Knickerbocker Seven Dwarfs Dolls in such great condition!  They will make a unique and impressive display within your own Disneyana Collection, or be a very special gift for someone that loves Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs!  The details in the faces of the Dwarfs and their clothing is superb.  Each Dwarf is about 10” tall and about 5” wide.  They are jointed at the shoulders so their arms are poseable.  Their clothing and hats are clean and not frayed.  Their beards are clean and not matted.  Doc’s felt glasses are complete and have not been separated or torn.  Each Dwarf stands upright with no assistance.  Take a look at the Dwarfs shoes . . . you will not need to polish them . . . they look like new!
