    Description

The C760 is the most modern of the Omega medium format enlargers. Introduced towards the end of the enlarger boom that began in the 1970's, it effectively replaced both the B66 and C67 enlargers. Incorporating many design changes, it was strikingly different from the models it replaced.
Instead of a baseplate, four studs, extending from the corners of the girder, were bolted directly to the baseboard, providing a very rigid column. Quick elevation changes could be made via a spring-loaded, self-locking knob on the carriage, with fine adjustments accomplished using an outer knob on the same control. Dual left and right-hand focus controls were provided. The heads did not lift but were now fixed in position, minimizing alignment problems. However, the head could be rotated, and the lens stage could be tilted as well, providing distortion control. Negative carriers were inserted against a spring loaded platform on the carriage. Because enlarging lenses had pretty well standardized on 39mm mounting thread, it was possible to simplify the lens mount system to just two threaded discs. Initially the C760 was offered in both standard and XL length columns, but the shorter column was discontinued by 1983.
While the C760 chassis has been out of production since 1999, the dichroic lamphouse and many accessories remained in production until recently.
The C760 is the most recent of the medium format series Chromega colorheads. Introduced at the same time as the C760 chassis, it was a minor reworking of the previous C700 Dichroic, and maintained all of that model's features. There were minor cosmetic changes on the faceplate, the side plates were squared off from their previous trapezoidal shape, and the mounting hardware was changed to accommodate the C760 chassis mounting system.
Standard features include 0-200cc filtration, 85w quartz-halogen lamp, white light switch, mixing chambers for both 6x7 and 35mm formats, built-in solid-state power supply, and an a port on top to accept light attenuators.
The C760 Dichroic has been sold as the standard colorhead with the C760 and C700 enlargers. In addition, adapter kits were available for installation on the B66, B-22 and C-67 enlargers.
