Description

INTRICATE EARLY 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH DERBY FIGURINE OF WOMAN RIDING GOAT, BOTH NURSING INFANTS
We are offering this marvelous English Derby figurine with so much detail. I believe it is called Tailor's Wife Riding a Goat, appropriately named. A young mother carries and infant and toddler in a basket on her back while holding an infant to her breast and riding a goat. The goat, too, has a nursing kid.  There are two baskets of supplies carried over the goat's neck.  One of these baskets is missing the handle.  This is a large, quite intricate figure that stands 10" tall and is about 8" long. Other than the missing basket handle, we see no damage or repairs.  It isn't marked but we have identified this as an English Derby piece dating to c1820.
