    Description

You're bidding on a cool, vintage-to-antique desk accessory - a green marble pen rest with a black bakelite fountain pen-style holder, and decorated with a small cast metal figurine of a golfer. He might be bronze, but my guess is probably white metal with an applied finish. He's captured at the finish of his backswing, club behind his head and seeming to track his ball in the air. Very Bobby Jones-era appearance, in knickers just below the knees, a V-neck sweater and sporting a tie. The piece as a whole surely dates from the 1920s or 1930s.
Very nice condition for age and type - lustrous black bakelite holder with no chips or cracks. The golfer has a bit of wear and soil from age and exposure, but nice honest aged appearance and somehow his golf club has survived unbroken. Marble base has a few small dings and marks,  but nice color and no major chips, cracks or breaks. Still retains its bottom felting. No manufacturers marks - My guess is it may be a Waterman's piece that lost its labels, but that's a pure guess. Base dimensions are 7 1/8" X 5" - golfer figure is about 4", total height from bottom of base to heel of his club is about 5".
Great, unique piece that would look great on any golf fanatic's desk - please review photos carefully to make your own determination of overall condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
